Day 2: Santiago

After breakfast, you will be collected from your hotel for a morning city tour of Santiago.

You will visit Santiago's main attractions including the colonial city centre, the neo-classical La Moneda Palace, the Plaza de Armas and the artistic centre of Bellavista.

The Plaza de Armas is Santiago’s vibrant main square, surrounded by magnificent historical architecture and attracting a steady stream of foreign and local tourists, impassioned soapboxers, beggars, buskers, spectators and passersby.

Situated in the heart of Santiago, La Moneda Palace is the official headquarters of the Chilean president. It is an impressive building that was constructed at the end of the 18th century extending across a whole block in the city’s CBD.

Spend the afternoon at leisure to explore independently.

Day 3: Santiago

After breakfast, you will be collected from your hotel to head northwest from Santiago to Viña del Mar and Valparaíso.

Admire the views on the way through the coastal mountain range towards the Pacific Coast.

Pass through Viña del Mar, an elegant and sophisticated seaside resort with fine hotels, palm tree-lines avenues and lovely villas.

Visit its famous ‘Quinta Vergara’, formerly home of Viña’s founding family and today internationally known for its annual music festival.

Continue to the historic port of Valparaíso (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), set on a crescent of hills and famous for its labyrinth-style streets and funicular railways.

Return to Santiago in the evening.

Day 4: San Pedro de Atacama

After breakfast you will be collected from your hotel and transferred to the airport for your morning flight to Calama.

Fly to Calama with Latam.

On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. 

In the afternoon enjoy a spectacular sunset in Moon Valley. 

This enigmatic landscape has bizarre rock formations and strange figures that nature has formed out of salt and clay.

See the salt figures ‘Tres Marias’ and the Salt Caverns at sunset, a beautiful time of day to be here.

There is also an optional short hike to one of the giant sand dunes in the valley.

Day 5: San Pedro de Atacama

Have a very early start around 4 am and head north to the famous El Tatio Geysers, at over 4,400 metres, to arrive for sunrise.

Super-heated water emerges powerfully from the frozen ground in over 100 geysers, boiling pools and fumaroles.

Enjoy breakfast next to the geysers and afterwards take a walk around the geothermal field close to this natural wonder.

If possible (depending on the activity of the geyser) you can take a bath in the hot thermal pools.

Afterwards drive on to visit Machuca, a former ancestral site, with houses built in the traditional way, before returning to San Pedro around midday, with the rest of the day to relax after the early start.

Day 6: Siloli Desert

Today cross between Chile and Bolivia, where a 4WD jeep will be waiting.

Visit the White and Green Lagoon at the foot of Lincancabur Volcano.

Continue to the Dali Desert with its surrealist columns of stones sculpted bt the wind.

Also visit Red Lagoon famous as the main flamingo nesting site in the region.

Day 7: Uyuni

Travelling on through the Siloli Desert, make some short stops to take pictures of the incredible landscape, before arriving at “Isla Incahuasi”, located in the centre of the Great Salt Flat.

Here you will find extraordinary calcareous rocks, large populations of Cactus, caves, tunnels and a spectacular panoramic view of the Salt Flat from the top.

Visit “Ojos de Agua” (Eyes of water), consisting of small salt water eruptions. 

Leave the salt flat behind and head to the Train Cemetery where you can learn more about Uyuni’s mining past and present.

Return back to the town of Colchani to stay overnight.

Day 8: La Paz

Early morning transfer to the airport of Uyuni for your scheduled flight to La Paz.

Fly to La Paz.

On arrival at La Paz Airport you will be met and transferred to your chosen hotel.

In the afternoon enjoy a city tour visiting the main attractions of La Paz, the world's highest capital city.

Day 9: Puno

After breakfast, start your journey by bus to Huatajata and explore the 'Andean Roots' cultural village.

Afterwards continue by bus to Copacabana and get to know the colonial church and its famous dark virgin before boarding a hydrofoil to Moon Island.

Sail to Sun Island before returning by boat to Copacabana and finally to Puno by bus.

Day 10: Cusco

A ten-hour bus trip takes you through picturesque Andean landscapes dotted with small villages and herds of llamas and vicunas.

Your final destination is Cusco, with three important stops along the way.

La Raya Pass (4,335 m) offers stunning panoramic views of the snow-capped Andes.

Lunch will be served shortly after  in a typical restaurant in Sicuani.

Viracocha Temple was the only Inca temple featuring cylindrical stone columns covered by fine clay layers, whilst the last stop is in Andahuaylillas, known for its baroque church dating back from the 17th century.

On arrival in Cusco you will be transferred to your chosen hotel.

Day 11: Cusco

You will be collected from your hotel by your guide for this half day excursion.

Immerse yourself in the grand colonial majesty of Cusco on a half-day guided sightseeing tour of the city.

This is followed by a visit to Sacsayhuaman, the largest and most impressive of four archaeological ruins on the outskirts of Cusco.

Sacsayhuaman was built by the Incas from massive stones weighing as much as 300 tons. A critical military site in the battle with the Spanish for the Inca empire in 1536, the ruins offer impressive views over the city below.

The name Cusco derives from the Quechua word for navel, indicating its location at the centre of the Inca Empire.

Today its many impressive original Inca walls display extraordinary craftsmanship, while the bustling squares are dotted with ornate baroque colonial churches.

Day 12: Cusco, The Sacred Valley of the Incas

Enjoy a full day tour today.

Journey into the heart of Peru’s rich Inca heritage as you explore colourful markets and an imposing fortress on this tour.

The charming marketplace of Pisac is a veritable treasure trove of exquisite Peruvian handicrafts. Capture the essence of the indigenous people as you walk among friendly locals who come to sell their wares in the time-honoured way. Great souvenirs can be picked up here - antiques, weaves, ceramic necklaces, mittens and alpaca sweaters.

After visiting Pisac take a lunch break at Tunupa Restaurant, one of the oldest colonial countryside houses right on the banks of Urubamba River, before continuing along this picturesque, patchwork valley to Ollantaytambo.

Legend and mystery will now capture your imagination as you walk the cobblestone pathways of Ollantaytambo, the ‘infallible’ fortress of the Incas.

The Inca terraces and megalithic structures impart a powerful sense of a bygone era. The oldest inhabited town of the Incas, the fortress also served as a temple and ceremonial centre.

Afterwards you will be dropped off back at your hotel in Cusco.

Day 13: Cusco, Machu Picchu

After breakfast, transfer by bus to Ollantaytambo train station.

The 1.5 hour train ride train takes you through the Sacred Valley of the Incas up to Machu Picchu Town.

On arrival a small bus takes you up the steep roads to the entrance of the citadel.

For centuries Machu Picchu remained undiscovered by the Spaniards and was only rediscovered in 1911 by the American explorer Hiram Bingham.

On a guided tour experience the uniqueness of the location and the genius that went into its construction, making this Inca site one of the seven wonders of the new world.

After the guided excursion, enjoy lunch in Aguas Calientes (also called Machu Picchu town) before returning to Cusco by train and bus.

Day 14: Lima

You will be collected from your hotel in Cusco and transferred to the airport by private car for your onward flight.

Fly to Lima with Latam.

You will be met by your guide for an afternoon excursion.

Depart this morning on a 5-hour tour exploring the most impressive sights of Lima along with some of our handpicked favourites.

Begin in Miraflores market, a vibrant place visited by local chefs for its wonderful variety of fresh produce from the coast, the Andes and the Amazon. Take the chance to learn more about Peru’s diversity reflected in the colourful assortment of vegetables, fruits, fish and condiments.

On the way to Lima’s downtown pass by ‘Huaca Pucllana’ an ancient adobe pyramid structure which served as one of the region’s most important ceremonial temples between 200 and 700 AD.

Continue to the San Isidro district and visit the impressive ‘El Olivar’ park before stopping at the historic Hotel Bolivar where you have the chance to taste Peru’s national drink, the ‘Pisco Sour’ (not included).

Afterwards, visit Lima’s downtown with its historic and traditional buildings: The Presidential Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishop’s palace and the Metropolitan City Hall surround the Main Square. Continue to San Francisco church and monastery, a 17th century jewel, recognized as a cultural heritage site by UNESCO.

This tour finishes with a guided visit of the Larco Herrera Museum. This is a fabulous private museum with an exquisite collection of gold and silver treasures from ancient Peru. Many pieces in this museum are now world famous after having been exhibited in the best museums around the world.
