Located close to Mandalay Hill in Myanmar's Mandalay Region, lies the wooden, historical Shwenandaw Monastery.
This Buddhist monastery is an excellent example of the Burmese style of architecture and the only existing original building of the royal palace complex.
Its roof and walls are adorned with beautiful Buddhist related teak carvings. The interiors are also decorated with intricate wood carvings.
Close to the grounds of the monastery is the royal palace complex and the Atumashi Monastery which can also be explored.
