Yandabo Village

The small but lively town of Yandabo lies in central Myanmar’s Bagan/Mandalay region, on the picturesque banks of the Irrawaddy River.

Village life centres around pottery making, fishing and farming, with all members of the community taking part.

The red earthenware pottery, made in the traditional way, draws travellers for its beauty and craft, and is transported all over the country by boat.

It was here also that the peace treaty was signed with the British, beginning 125 years of colonial rule in Burma.
